Since its formal unveiling early 2005 more than 34 million xboxes have been released.
You can't deny the eminence of the xbox 360 , since gamers have been happy to embrace new technology. Considering the number of units implied, you would assume that people are really happy with their game consoles
Even so, there looks to be a loud group of gamers that are making their interests discovered
There appears to be conflicting reports too from Microsoft about the reliablity of the xbox 360.
With regards to faulty xboxes, Microsoft ascertains that the range is within industry standards.
States editor Doug DuBreen of Xbox-Repair-Tips.com:
"Reference to Microsoft's own underestimated numbers, it looks like the broken xboxes reach a solid million, but more probable several millions"
One Billion to fix it?
A couple of years ago Microsoft claimed a 1 $Billion charge because of the costly xbox problems. There is a hum about a 1 $Billion fund that Microsoft has appropriated for coming repair troubles.
That would be adequate to fix each and every xbox, or completely substitute one third of all the units.Amazingly that would cover the mendings for each and every xbox, or replace upto about a third.
What is to blame?
If you ask 10 different people you will get 10 contrary answers. It is easy to point fingers especially with 20/20 hind sight.
"Microsoft needs to realize that vendors generally do an excellent job, it is in their best interest, indeed a matter of survival, to supply them with a superior product"
Doug relates to the often publicized problem with the graphics chip that Microsoft steered away from the vendor, to later reverse course after coming across problems in house.
Due to layers of corporate hierarchy, the final outcome might not be what was first visualized by top management. It is a predicament big businesses have to address. Apparently there is a big problem, but gamers don't want to be troubled.
"Intrepid enterprisers see an opportunity with all these broken xboxes and they are happy to provide a solution."
Spending less money and time to have their xboxes taken care of is attractive to many players and it all begins on the web.
You can find quite a few of these repair pros online. The nice thing is that you can do it all at home, observing simple video or picture guides.
"You just download a pdf book or access a members area online, andwithin roughly an hour you could have your xbox fixed and ready to play again."
That sounds nice to a lot of players, who are reluctant to send their xbox away for several weeks.
"I frankly believe all these online repair gurus are doing Microsoft a big favor by reducing the number of xboxes returned and it is better for their bottomline."
If it is faster and costs less it is easy to understand why people are turning to help online. The web-sites seem to be of good standard and the payment process is standard high security, what we all are used to by now.
"Most of our email is concerning these xbox repair guides. Gamers want to know if their particular issue can be fixed."
"In the end all that we can do is to show the differences between these repair guides, the decision which one they want to buy is really up to the visitor and we trust that they are competent of making an educated decision."
In the mean time I'll keep my fingers crossed to avoid the dreaded Red-Ring-of-death-lights...Happy gaming!
